PLEASE DONATE TO HELP PROVIDE BASIC HUMAN SERVICES FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED!

Hello: The Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas is asking for help to provide basic human services, such as lunch every day and transportation for weekly grocery shopping, for the blind and visually impaired. We cannot serve those in need without your help. We are the only Blind Center in the entire state, so it is imperative that we continue to provide our services and programs.

The Blind Center of Nevada also provides job training and paid employment for visually disabled persons. It is the only work site option for visually impaired people living in southern Nevada. We have provided training and employment for more than 50 years.

We need donations of computer/electronic equipment, food donations, monetary donations; and other items of value, such as, sports cards, entertainment/sports memorabilia, antiques, jewelry, watches, art or art objects; and other collectibles, such as, stamps, coins and paper money.

This type of donation will accomplish two things for the Blind Center; it will provide training and support so that our disabled people are able to work in our Recycling Center, and, it will help to provide funding to support the other services provided by the Blind Center of Nevada.

DID YOU KNOW THAT IN SOUTHERN NEVADA NEARLY 28,000 SENIOR CITIZENS ARE VISUALLY IMPAIRED OR LEGALLY BLIND?

Hello: The Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas has provided services to blind and visually impaired people living in southern Nevada since 1955. The Blind Center of Nevada has also provided job training and paid employment to visually disabled persons for more than 50 years.

According to the Helen Keller National Center, 1 out of 4 Americans over the age of 65 will experience significant or total vision loss, while 1 out of 3 will experience some loss of hearing. Of southern Nevada's approximately 160,000 senior citizens, nearly 28,000 are visually impaired or legally blind (Bureau of the Census). This population is expected to more than double by the year 2030, when the last generation of Baby Boomers reaches the age of 65. It is very important that the services offered by the Blind Center of Nevada continue. We cannot serve those in need without your help.

We are in need of donations of computers and electronic-related equipment, food donations and monetary donations. It is important you understand that your donation goes directly towards meeting the basic human services we provide, such as lunch every day and transportation for weekly grocery shopping.

The Blind Center of Nevada appreciates all contributions. For more information, please call the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas at (702) 642-6000, and please visit our website listed below.

DEMAND FOR SERVICES CONTINUES TO GROW!

Hello: We have to repeat that the Blind Center of Nevada is the only facility in the Las Vegas area that provides a place for the blind and visually impaired to spend most or part of their day and, for many, the social activities have become an every day way of life. Besides the social activities, the Blind Center of Nevada has provided job training and paid employment to visually disabled persons for more than 50 years. It is the only work site option for visually impaired people living in southern Nevada.

Demand for services continues to grow. We cannot serve those in need without your help. We are looking for computer/electronic donations, items of value that would be resalable, such as antiques, jewelry, watches, art or art objects, and other collectibles such as stamps, coins, paper money, sports cards, entertainment/sport's memorabilia. We also accept monetary and food donations.

For more information on making donations, or on our services, please contact the Blind Center of Nevada at (702) 642-6000, and also visit our website listed below.

DONATIONS CAN COME IN MANY FORMS!

Hello: We have been talking about needing donations of computers and electronics at the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas to continue providing job training and paid employment to visually disabled persons. Again, we are the only work site option for visually impaired people living in southern Nevada.

Donations can come in many forms. We are also looking for items of some value that would be resalable. Because of our electronic recycling program, the first thought would be to donate useable electronics, but what about collectibles, such as sports cards, entertainment or sport's memorabilia? Consider donating antiques, jewelry, watches, art or art objects, and other collectibles such as stamps, coins and paper money.

We will continue tomorrow.

If you have any questions, or would like to donate any of the aforementioned, please call the Blind Center of Nevada at (702) 642-6000, or visit our website listed below.
