Hello: In the last blog, we gave you a little history on the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas with information on it's being the only facility in the Las Vegas area that provides a place for the blind and visually impaired to spend most or part of their day with social activities.
The other important aspect of the Blind Center is that it has provided job training and paid employment to visually disabled persons for more than 50 years. To repeat, it is the only work site option for visually impaired people living in southern Nevada.
The newest and continuing job opportunity is the Computer and Electronic Recycling Program. In 2005, the Blind Center began accepting donations of computers, monitors and printers from local businesses, government agencies and individuals. A partial list of useable electronics that may be donated are: Computers: Laptops, Desktops; Servers; Answering Machines, Recorders; CD/DVD Drives, VCR's, Recorders, Players; Calculators (handheld, desktop, cash registers); Cameras (still or movie, digital or cartridge); Cell Phones/Blackberries/Palm products. We will list more tomorrow.
For more information on any of the above, please contact the Blind Center of Nevada at (702) 642-6000, or visit our website listed below.
