EMPLOYEE COMPUTER RECYCLING EVENT!

Hello: The Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas would like to invite companies to participate in an "Employee Computer Recycling Event" to be held on their properties in the coming New Year!

This means that the company would choose a date and time for employees to donate any old or unwanted computer or electronic equipment. These donations are tax-deductible as the Blind Center is a non-profit (501C3). One hundred percent (100%) of the profit generates free services and employment for the blind and visually impaired at the Blind Center. All donations are kept out of the landfills in Nevada.

The business of Computer Recycling is one of the ways that the Blind Center of Nevada is able to assist blind and visually impaired people in the community.

"One of the most beautiful gifts in the world is the gift of encouragement. When someone encourages you, that person helps you over a threshold you might otherwise never have crossed on your own." - John O'Donohue

KINDNESS AND WISDOM!

Hello: Today is a good day to reflect upon the kindness and understanding given to the members of the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas. Each day is a challenge for the blind and visually impaired. The Blind Center is there to help with the challenges by giving independent living skills training, Braille instruction, computer classes, educational programs, job training, and more.

A nutritious lunch is served each day, and for some members, that may be the only meal of the day. On special occasions, such as certain Holidays, dinner and entertainment is also provided.

We must remember that being blind or visually impaired means that a little extra help may be needed to go shopping, read a bill or letter, help in choosing an outfit for the day, preparing a meal, or going out. If we all can help someone in any facet of life, then these acts of kindness will never go unanswered.

Remember, "Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom" - Theodore Isaac Rubin

Hello: With Christmas being only a week and a half away, some members of the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas are busy making Christmas presents, along with other craft pieces, in the Ceramics Class that is held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00 am.

The Class teaches the blind and visually impaired members to create aesthetic and useful pieces that they can be very proud of.

SANTA WAS THERE!

Hello: A wonderful dinner and entertainment was provided last night at the 2008 Annual Holiday Dinner for the members of the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas.

Dinner was put on by the Monte Cristo Ward and members of the Blind Center showed off their talents after all of their hard work and dedication to their music lessons.

"Theater in the House," the Blind Center acting group, did a Christmas "skit," which was enjoyed by all.

Santa was there to give members some holiday cheer and a gift upon leaving the Blind Center.

A special thank you to the Board Members of the Blind Center of Nevada and the Monte Cristo Ward, and to all of the volunteers who made the night spectacular!

COMPUTER RECYCLING/DATA SANITIZATION-PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION!

Hello: At the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas, along with our non-profit business of Computer Recycling, we provide a service of data-sanitization for your hard drive.

The importance of doing this is to make sure that any and all information that is stored on your hard drive is wiped out thoroughly.

This is to bring awareness that everything you do on the computer is stored and sanitizing your hard drive is so important to protect your personal and business information.

PRIVATE FUNDRAISERS! - YOU CAN HELP!

Hello: The Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas is always in need of assistance, whether it be monetary assistance or volunteer time. We need the help of individuals, community groups, foundations, and corporations. Please help make a major difference in the life of a visually impaired person.

One of the ways money is raised for the Blind Center is through private fundraisers. To benefit the Blind Center and its members, you can get involved by arranging your own fundraiser through your place of work, club, organization, school, or place of worship.

We will talk about other ways you can help the blind and visually impaired another time.

PRODUCT AND KIT ASSEMBLY WORKSHOP!

Hello: The Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas helps the blind and visually impaired with employment in their Product and Kit Assembly Workshop.

If any businesses in the Las Vegas area need assembling of their products, please contact the Blind Center of Nevada at the number below.

JOY OF ACHIEVEMENT!

Hello: Today is another beautiful, sunny and productive day at the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas. First, we need to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ben, our Computer Recycling Scheduler!

Each day visually impaired men and women come to the Blind Center of NV to enjoy a warm and welcoming environment and, for many, the work opportunities and social activities have become a way of life. The Blind Center strives to create a positive social setting and support system outside the home for our members.

Computer/electronics recycling is only one of the meaningful employment opportunities at the Blind Center. We need to mention how important recycling is because we need to keep the landfills in Nevada free of E-waste. We also need to keep our employment opportunities moving forward, so more can benefit.

"What a man really wants is creative challenge with sufficient skills to bring him within the reach of success so that he may have the expanding joy of achievement." -- Fay B. Nash

Remember, the more E-waste we recycle, the more we all benefit, from employment opportunities and the joy of achievement, to keeping the Nevada landfills free of harmful waste.
